The Criminal Defense Lawyer and you

Criminal Lawyers and you

A conspiracy of silence cloaks – the American Justice System and particularly the Criminal Law Division. The vast majority of those on the inside, specifically lawyers and judges, won’t talk. Most outsiders, law professors and journalists haven’t a clue as to what is actually going on behind closed doors. The average citizen outside of the system has no way of knowing what’s happening behind the scenes in the day to day operation of the Criminal Justice System.

Some insiders won’t talk simply because they have a stake in not exposing the dark underside of the legal profession. Others are afraid of reprisals. The formal rules governing the legal profession discourage lawyers from publicly criticizing their professional brothers and encourage them to promote public confidence in our courts and inside the honor of the profession. Equally important is the informal understanding among insiders that they will criticize only within the club and not in public. The main difference between insiders who know but won’t say and outsiders who will say but don’t know has deprived the public of a realistic assessment of the American Justice System.

Criminal Defense Lawyers of our great nation turn the Bill of Rights from an abstraction to a reality and protect the rights and privileges that keep all of us Americans in a totally free country. There is a constant fight with the federal government that lately appears to be the enemy of individual liberty. We need to stop the erosion of our civil rights by a growing number of uncaring judges within the Criminal Justice System. There are still numerous flaws and weaknesses in our system, and all we can do is our best.

It takes many years of study and hardship to master the discipline of practicing law. A great Criminal Defense Lawyer commonly starts off as a naive idealist with an abiding faith in the system, trust in the integrity of judges, the good faith of the prosecutors, and in the dedication of defense attorneys. A brand new lawyer could begin as a Public Defender or an Assistant Prosecutor. Then a Criminal Lawyer. When it comes to criminal law cases, an experienced and effective Criminal Defense Attorney can mean the difference between a prison sentence and reduced or dismissed charges. If you find yourself arrested on criminal charges, attempting to find the appropriate lawyer, quickly, may feel overwhelming. Again, individuals who have been arrested need to speak to a criminal defense lawyer as soon as possible. The most urgent priority is generally obtaining a lawyer to arrange release and supply some facts about what’s to come in the days ahead.

The fact remains that the vast majority of criminal defendants are actually guilty of the crimes with which they are charged. Numbers don’t lie. Even despite the constitutional presumption of innocence. Any criminal lawyer who tells you that the majority of his clients are innocent is pulling your leg. Either that or he’s limiting his practice, and, most likely, his take home pay. Some of those accused, of course, are innocent and have no business being brought up on charges in the first place, and that’s why it’s imperative that they retain an experienced, competent lawyer.
